An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Reinstate FDA food safety oversight to protect public health.

56 so far! Let’s get to 100 signers!

The suspension of the Food and Drug Administration's quality control program for food testing laboratories poses a significant risk to public health and food safety. Cutting staff and funding directly responsible for protecting consumers from foodborne illnesses and contaminants is deeply concerning. This measure undermines the agency's ability to prevent food-related outbreaks and ensure the integrity of our food supply. Reinstate funding and staffing levels to allow the FDA to fulfill its critical role in safeguarding the nation's food safety. The potential consequences of these cuts are too severe to ignore, as they jeopardize the health and well-being of all Americans.
