Pass HB6119 to Keep Michigan's Doctors Treating Michigan's Patients

91 so far! Let’s get to 100 signers!

Pass House Bill 6119. It would ban the noncompete clauses that stop Michigan physicians from practicing when they leave an employer, and that protection is overdue. Right now a hospital or medical group can write a contract that forbids a doctor from practicing anywhere nearby for months or years after they leave. When that doctor moves on, their patients lose them. People who spent years building trust with a physician have to start over with someone new, often driving farther to do it. That is not a fair trade for anyone except the employer holding the contract. These clauses also push doctors out of Michigan entirely. A physician who wants to stay near family but cannot legally practice nearby will take a job in another state instead. We are short on doctors already, and contracts like these make the shortage worse. HB6119 fixes this by voiding noncompete agreements for physicians. It amends our existing fair employment law so a career move no longer costs a doctor their community or a patient their doctor. Vote yes and keep Michigan's doctors treating Michigan's patients.
