CONGRESS MUST IMPEACH SECRETARY HEGSETH As your constituent, I urge you to support the impeachment of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The public record reflects impeachable conduct, including exposing sensitive military information through insecure communications, endangering U.S. personnel and missions, and presiding over actions that federal courts found unconstitutional. HEGSETH PUT U.S. PERSONNEL AND MISSIONS AT RISK The Associated Press reported that the Pentagon inspector general found Hegseth’s use of Signal to convey sensitive strike-related information put U.S. personnel and their mission at risk. AP also reported he had an internet connection installed that bypassed Pentagon security protocols so he could use Signal on a personal computer. A Secretary of Defense who handles operational matters this way has failed in one of the most basic duties of the office. HEGSETH UNDERMINED CONGRESS’S OVERSIGHT ROLE Reuters reported that Pentagon staff were required to obtain permission before communicating with members of Congress, and lawmakers from both parties later complained the Pentagon was keeping Congress in the dark and being unresponsive on national-security matters. That pattern raises serious concerns about disregard for Congress’s oversight role. COURTS FOUND UNCONSTITUTIONAL CONDUCT UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP Reuters and AP reported that federal courts ruled Pentagon press restrictions under Hegseth were unconstitutional, and later found the Defense Department was still hampering reporters in defiance of a court order. That is not a routine management dispute. It is evidence of unconstitutional conduct and resistance to lawful oversight under his leadership. CONGRESS MUST NOT LET THIS CONDUCT STAND If Congress fails to act, it will signal that a Secretary of Defense may endanger troops, disregard Congress’s oversight role, and disregard constitutional limits without consequence. Impeachment exists for grave abuses of public trust, and this record warrants its use. I urge you to: (1) Publicly support the impeachment of Secretary Hegseth. (2) State that no Secretary of Defense may endanger U.S. personnel, disregard Congress’s oversight role, or disregard constitutional limits without consequence. Thank you.
