Reduce DHS’s Authority and Mandate Strict Accountability The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) reckless expansion has led to systemic failures that violate the rights of Americans and the basic humanity of all. Bryan Morales, a U.S. citizen born in Denver, was recently racially profiled and summarily deported to Mexico. Despite claiming citizenship, Morales was threatened with prison and coerced into signing removal papers by agents who refused to examine his documentation. This is not an isolated error; it is part of a pattern of gross irresponsibility. Oversight has collapsed while deaths in custody have reached record highs—with dozens of fatalities reported since 2025. Furthermore, the abhorrent conditions in detention centers, which many rightly describe as concentration camps, are defined by severe medical neglect, malnutrition, and overcrowding. When an agency is capable of deporting its own citizens and presiding over preventable deaths due to sheer negligence, its power is clearly unchecked. I urge you to take immediate action to reduce DHS’s authority and mandate strict accountability. Defend our Constitution and uphold human decency.
