Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to support and vote YES on California's SB 54, that aims to improve plastics recycling and reduce waste, which is crucial for protecting the environment.
The bill is endorsed by the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which I and my family have supported for years. SB54 would require plastic products and packaging to be recyclable or compostable by 2032, with innovations that are being developed and tested today.
This proactive legislation aligns with growing public demand for sustainable solutions. By transitioning away from single-use plastics that pollute oceans and landfills, we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and create a more circular economy.
I urge you to support SB 54 to position California as a leader in responsible waste management and pave the way for other states to follow suit. Tackling plastic waste is an investment in our planet's future. Thank you for your service.
