The National Weather Service and NOAA provide invaluable data and forecasts that benefit all Americans. Their work allows us to plan ahead and stay safe during severe weather events. Cutting funding and staff from these agencies puts lives and economic activity at risk. According to experts, the Weather Service generates a 50-plus fold return on investment due to its crucial role enabling weather-dependent industries and preparedness. Fully restoring funding and rehiring all staff at NWS and NOAA is essential to maintain this vital public service that pays dividends many times over. We cannot afford to undermine these agencies that protect lives and enable smart planning across many sectors.
