Reject nominations compromising USPS integrity and independence

The administration's choice to nominate David Steiner, a FedEx board member, as the next Postmaster General raises serious concerns about potential conflicts of interest. Steiner's ties to a major private shipping company that directly competes with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) could undermine the agency's ability to operate independently and in the public's best interest. Furthermore, the president's plans to reshape the USPS Board of Governors with additional appointees sympathetic to private interests threaten the agency's long-standing mandate to provide affordable, universal mail service. The USPS is a vital American institution that has served the nation effectively for over two centuries. Its operations should not be compromised or subjected to undue corporate influence. Eroding the agency's independence by installing leadership with divided loyalties sets a dangerous precedent and jeopardizes the reliability and accessibility of postal services for millions of Americans, particularly in rural and underserved communities. I urge you to reject the nomination of David Steiner and any other nominees with clear conflicts of interest that could undermine the USPS's public service mission. The agency's leadership should consist of experienced professionals committed to upholding its core values of universal service, affordability, and independence from private sector influence. Protecting the integrity and impartiality of the USPS is essential to maintaining a functional postal system that serves all Americans equitably.
