I want my representative to vote yes on HR10024, the Health Insurance Transparency for Patients Act. Right now health insurers and Medicare Advantage plans can deny claims with almost no public accountability. Patients find out how often a plan says no only after they've already been denied care they needed. This bill would require insurers and MA organizations to publicly report their coverage denial rates, so people can see which plans reject the most claims before they sign up.
That kind of transparency matters most for older Americans choosing between Medicare Advantage plans, who currently have no way to compare denial rates the way they compare premiums or drug coverage. Publishing this data won't fix every problem with prior authorization or claims review, but it gives patients and regulators the information they need to hold insurers accountable. I'm asking my representative to support HR10024 and get it moving through Congress.
