Please pass SB432. Right now in New Hampshire, sunscreen is treated like a regulated medication in schools and summer camps, which means a kid cannot put it on without a doctor's note or a prescription. That is absurd. Sunscreen is sold over the counter in every drugstore in the state, and pediatricians have spent years telling parents to use more of it on their children, not less.
Senators Ward, Innis, and Watters wrote a bill that fixes the rule and pairs it with a skin cancer prevention curriculum. Both pieces matter. Melanoma rates in New Hampshire run above the national average, and the habits that prevent it start in childhood.
Plenty of other states have already done this without controversy. Move the bill, get it through the House, and let kids in this state put on sunscreen at recess without paperwork.
