Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to protect funding for all our vital agencies.
How does cutting funding and staff at the National Institutes of Health, a gold standard make any of us safer?
How does cutting staff at the FAA and NTSB make air travel safer?
How does damaging the workings of the FBI, CIA, and Intelligence agencies make the United States safer from terrorists, foreign and domestic?
So-called ‘small government’ cannot work in a country that has big complex problems. That is why these agencies exist. That nonsense about small government was a lie that started with Reagan, and died off years ago with technology making everything more efficient.
The business oligarchs taking over our government have no business trying to apply their system of layoffs for profitability for stockholders to the functions of our federal government agencies. The population of the US are stockholders, because we pay taxes, and we have every right to have a say in how these dollars get spent. That’s the function of Congress.
Use every legal and parliamentary rule to stop or slow this down. You cannot ignore the millions of Americans that do care about this wrecking ball politics, and did not vote it. Most of the rest were duped, and if they really knew what was going on, they would be calling and writing as I am.
