Support immigration reform protecting Dreamers and undocumented residents

28 so far! Let’s get to 50 signers!

The proposed DIGNIDAD Act offers a compromise on immigration reform by providing a path to permanent legal status and work authorization for undocumented immigrants, while increasing border security measures and mandating E-Verify for employment eligibility verification. The key provisions regarding legal status include: A new "Dignity Status" program grants renewable 7-year periods of non-immigrant legal presence to undocumented residents who have been in the U.S. since 2020, after paying fees, passing background checks, and meeting other requirements. This status allows residing and working in the U.S. but does not provide a direct pathway to citizenship or family reunification benefits. The DREAM Act provision creates a pathway to permanent residency (green card) for undocumented individuals brought to the U.S. as children, through completing higher education, military service, or employment requirements. While not offering a broad pathway to citizenship for all undocumented residents, these programs would allow long-term legal residency and work rights. This approach aims to balance calls for providing legal status with concerns some have about extending citizenship rapidly. Passing this legislation would provide stability and legal protections for millions of undocumented people deeply rooted in their communities. Please support and pass this legislation.
