An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Oppose Unethical Anthony d'Esposito for Inspector General at Labor Dept.

45 so far! Let’s get to 50 signers!

Today I’m writing to urge you to oppose Anthony d'Esposito for the Inspector General’s role at the US Department of Labor. (PN-60-8) His vote was delayed over a month ago, and must not be resumed. There are widely known ethical concerns that were rightly raised about his past affair with a congressional aide while serving as a congressman, and that he later put the woman and his fiancee’s daughter on the payroll, in a likely breach of Congressional ethics laws. This breach of trust and lapse in judgement calls into question his ability to objectively oversee government conduct and spending as Inspector General. An Inspector General must be beyond reproach to maintain public confidence in their oversight role. Anthony d'Esposito's actions demonstrate a willingness to abuse his position of power for personal gain. It also puts him in a position of being blackmailed, and force him to make decisions in favor of other corrupt officials. For the integrity of the office, I urge you to oppose his nomination and seek a candidate with a proven record of ethical leadership. Thank you.
