An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Preserve U.S. research leadership by maintaining science funding.

54 so far! Let’s get to 100 signers!

The longstanding U.S. model of federally funded scientific research at universities and institutions has fostered an environment of innovation that has kept America at the forefront of scientific progress for decades. Cutting indirect cost funding for research facilities and operations will cripple these institutions' ability to conduct groundbreaking work across fields from biomedicine to technology. Such a move threatens to undermine American leadership in research and development at a time when global competition is intensifying. The federal government should maintain robust funding for science, allowing researchers to freely pursue inquiries that drive discovery and advance human knowledge without political interference. Continuing this proven partnership is essential to upholding American preeminence in innovation for future generations.
