Protect Social Security & Medicare: Reverse Damaging Cuts

1 so far! Let’s get to 5 signers!

The recent reconciliation bill, OBBBA, will destabilize Social Security and Medicare, vital programs that millions of Americans depend on. The bill has put unnecessary strain on these essential programs. Under the guise of eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse, this administration reduced staff, closed offices, and complicated access to services at the Social Security Administration. This has led to unacceptably long wait times for those seeking assistance. Even more alarming is Treasury Secretary Bessent's admission that infant savings accounts created by OBBBA serve as a "backdoor for privatizing Social Security." This revelation exposes the true intent behind these actions, which is not to improve efficiency but to dismantle these critical safety nets. Furthermore, the new law is set to trigger cuts to Medicare due to sequestration, while Medicaid has already faced drastic defunding. These cuts will have severe consequences for millions of Americans who rely on these programs for their health and well-being. I urge you to take immediate action to reverse these damaging budget cuts and protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits for all Americans. Please support legislation like that introduced by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, which aims to shore up Social Security and Medicare finances by requiring wealthier individuals to pay their fair share into the system.
