End Privatized Detention

End Privatized Detention Recent investigative reporting from NPR exposes the deeply corrupt revolving door between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the multi-billion-dollar private prison giant GEO Group. With a former GEO executive now leading ICE, the boundary between public service and corporate greed has dissolved. This administration actively utilizes private contractors to shirk federal accountability while boosting corporate profits by nearly 700%. Behind a shroud of corporate secrecy, these facilities operate with systemic medical neglect and inhumane conditions, turning 2026 into the deadliest year for immigration detention since the founding of DHS. This toxic alliance violates the core spirit of the United States Constitution. Commercializing human captivity makes a mockery of Fifth Amendment guarantees to due process and violates the Eighth Amendment's absolute prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. Stripping public oversight to line the pockets of a preferred corporate fraternity betrays of public trust and is a gross abuse of power. Human beings are not commodities. I urge you to take immediate, impactful legislative action to permanently end all federal contracts with for-profit detention and prison facilities.
