The fossil fuel industry has been reaping massive profits for years, yet they continue to receive generous tax breaks and subsidies from the government. This is an unacceptable use of taxpayer money that only serves to line the pockets of oil and gas executives while depleting our shared natural resources and exacerbating the climate crisis. Eliminate all fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks from the reconciliation bill. These corporations have more than enough financial resources and should not be receiving handouts from the American people. Furthermore, the proposed carbon capture provision is a misguided effort that will only prolong our reliance on dirty energy sources. Instead of perpetuating the destructive fossil fuel economy, our limited funds should be invested in rapidly transitioning to clean, renewable energy solutions. We cannot afford to keep pouring money into an industry that is actively undermining the future habitability of our planet. The time to take bold action is now - fossil fuel giveaways must end.
