Today I take pen in hand to write in full support of a Commission to investigate the violent attack on our government by allies of former President Trump, including people in Congress and the White House.
These need to be public hearings. I don't care how long it takes, but we must outline the difference between true grievances with our government and lies that lead to violence.
Congress must use all means to explain to the American people what they will lose if we do not hold people accountable for crimes committed against the peaceful transfer of power. The impeachment outcome was disappointing, but perhaps a public parade of witnesses and accused wrongdoers will drive the point home more effectively.
