Reassert Congress's constitutional power over taxation

The president's claim of virtually unlimited, unilateral power to impose tariffs at any rate undermines Congress's exclusive constitutional authority over taxation. These unilateral tariff hikes raise costs for businesses and consumers through higher wholesale prices and inflation, without increasing domestic manufacturing as claimed. This assertion of legislative powers reserved for Congress under the Constitution jeopardizes economic prosperity. Reasserting Congress's taxation role as the elected representatives of the people is imperative.
