Block Use of Flawed AI System that is Denying Medicare Care

938 so far! Let’s get to 1,000 signers!

Today I’m writing to urge you to block the poorly named WISeR program and keep AI out of Medicare coverage decisions. Doctors should be deciding what care seniors need — not a computer algorithm optimized to cut costs, and avoid paying claims to boost profits. The Senate just voted 50-46 to keep this program alive, and that vote was wrong. KFF has already documented that WISeR has caused confusion, errors, and long wait times for patients who earned their Medicare benefits. The AFL-CIO put it plainly: no senior should wait weeks for care because a flawed AI system won't authorize it. This isn't about efficiency — it's about using technology to make denials faster and cheaper while patients suffer the consequences of delayed care. No senior asked Trump to let a machine second-guess their doctor. I urge you to take every available action to reverse this rule, and to support future CRA resolutions, and make clear that Medicare decisions belong to physicians and patients — not to private companies running AI denial engines in order to avoid paying. Thank you.
