Leave Social Security and Medicare Alone

We’ve spent our entire working lives contributing to Medicare and Social Security. Republicans need to get the message to leave these programs alone. Ironically, McCarthy is all hot and bothered by the deficit but wants to give more tax breaks to the wealthy! “Kevin McCarthy recently went on FOX News to announce his plan to create a commission to cut Social Security and Medicare behind closed doors.” From an article on Salon on 2023/06/01, “House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made clear Wednesday that Republicans are not finished targeting the nation’s safety net programs—and signaled a future effort by the GOP to slash Social Security and Medicare. “In a Fox News appearance ahead of the House’s passage of the debt limit legislation, McCarthy, R-Calif., said the measure is just “the first step” of the GOP’s broader agenda, which includes further cuts to federal programs and massive tax breaks for the wealthy.” NO, NO, NO! There is no rational reason to cut these essential programs. If McCarthy is concerned with the deficit, he would increase taxes on the wealthy and reduce the bloated and colossal defense budget, not argue for the opposite.
