An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect Institute of Museum and Library Services Funding

16 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

I urge you to protect federal funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and oppose any attempts to eliminate or cut funding for this crucial agency. The IMLS is a cornerstone of support for our nation's libraries and museums. The importance of IMLS funding supports state library agencies and provides essential services to communities across the country. From promoting early literacy to offering job search assistance and providing access to technology for those who might otherwise lack it, libraries and museums serve as vital community hubs that foster education, cultural enrichment, and economic opportunity. I urge you to protect IMLS funding in this year's budget. Please work with your colleagues in Congress to ensure full funding for the IMLS and send a clear message to the White House that attacks on library and museum funding will not be tolerated. Our communities depend on these institutions, and it is our responsibility to safeguard them for current and future generations. As your constituent, I ask you to stand up for our libraries and museums. Please advocate forcefully for full IMLS funding in this year's budget and oppose any attempts to weaken or eliminate this essential agency. Thank you.
