An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Vote No on Rescission Package!

7 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

First, I understand that the House passed the rescission package yesterday that defunds PBS and some foreign aid. Shame on them. I expect the Senator to vote no. I care about Public Broadcasting. I’ve lived in small towns where pbs and npr stations were the only news I could get and could afford (aka free). These funds were already allocated and should be paid out. If we can afford 140M for an unnecessary military invasion of Los Angeles we can keep funding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Second, I am appalled by the assault on Senator Padilla. What is happening in our country? Senator Padilla clearly identified himself, was standing next to the reporters (not charging Noem), and was asking a reasonable question about actions impacting his constituents. Congress needs to condemn these actions and demand a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the role of Secretary Noem and the security personnel involved. The silence of other lawmakers in the face of these authoritarian tactics is unacceptable and threatens the freedom of all Americans. Thank you for speaking out against these abuses of power.
