Americans need accurate, timely, free weather warnings to survive what's coming, and right now the agencies responsible for delivering those warnings have been gutted.
The past two years of cuts have left NOAA and NWS understaffed at exactly the wrong moment. Previous "very strong" El Niño events caused hundreds of billions in damages globally — this one is already surpassing those. Congress must reverse the damage, rebuild these agencies to full capacity, and protect the public's access to life-saving forecasts. This is not a partisan issue. It is a basic obligation to the people you represent.
